DACE participates in SkillsUSA California’s 52nd Annual Conference

Alheli Alcala (second from right) is currently enrolled in the Integrated Education and Training (IET) program at AFOC. Alheli is the first DACE IET student to participate and win a medal at the SkillsUSA state competition. Alheli’s cosmetology and IET teacher concurs that IET works!

Once again our students make us proud for their superb performance at the SkillsUSA state competition where over 2,539 competitors from all over California were present. DACE is thrilled to continue to partner with the largest SkillsUSA state association which allows our students to excel in the chosen CTE Pathway.  Through this partnership, students, teachers and industry, work together to ensure that America has a skilled workforce through the development of personal, workplace, and technical skills that are grounded in academics.  Fifty-two DACE students competed alongside other CTE students from other adult schools, public and private community colleges in California.  Each leadership and job skill contest required safety knowledge and the use of tools and equipment.

DACE students received support from their teacher, advisor, school administrator, and central office personnel.  Let’s continue the momentum as 15 DACE students continue their journey to the 55th Annual SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on June 24 – 28, 2019 where over 6,000 contestants will showcase their technical and leadership talents.

DACE is proud to support this year’s participating schools: Abram Friedman Occupational Center, Harbor Occupational Center, Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center, North Valley Occupational Center, Richard N. Slawson Southeast Occupational Center, and West Valley Occupational Center.  DACE is thankful for the generous donations from Oscar Meier, DACE Apprenticeship Advisor, which were instrumental to fund this competition.
