Amy Hunt, Director of Adult Education of Granite School District (Utah), visited Abram Friedman Occupational Center (AFOC) on December 5, 2018. Central Office staff and AFOC Principal Martha Peralta met with Ms. Hunt on campus to showcase the Integrated Education and Training (IET) program, which is a collaboration between ESL, Cosmetology and Adult Basic Education (Math) instructors. The team visited the classes of Mr. Yung, Ms. Blanco and Mr. Hughey to observe teachers and students in action.

IET is an instructional model approach that provides adult education and literacy activities concurrently and contextually to help students succeed in meeting their future employment goals in an accelerated manner. After the class visits, the team met to discuss program design and promising practices. Ms. Hunt will be taking the information back to share with adult education leaders in Utah.
