The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) of San Fernando Valley has chosen Elizabeth Penuela, as the recipient of the organization’s education award. Ms. Penuela is an Assistant Principal of Operations for the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Division of Adult and Career Education. She worked tirelessly in her role as AP of Operations at the North Valley Occupational Center for many years and was recently re-assigned to the Venice Skills Center where she assists students with high barriers to employment to achieve their career dreams. Ms. Penuela will be presented with this prestigious award at the annual Gala Awards Dinner Banquet on October 18, 2018 in Van Nuys, CA.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has provided civil rights advocacy since 1909 and the Pacoima Branch NAACP #1064 was formed on May 9, 1955.
