Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis toured LAUSD’s Slawson Occupation Center on Thursday, July 12th. During her visit she had the opportunity to speak with students, teachers and staff who are engaged in the Division of Adult and Career Education’s summer program which includes the Integrated Education and Training (IET) construction and culinary arts classes.
These unique programs combine English language literacy instruction with job training which accelerate students with low literacy skills to a career pathway. Supervisor Solis was very impressed with the state of the art facilities and offered encouragement and support to students who are investing in their future.
Supervisor Solis shared about her visit on Twitter:
“Today I stopped by the Southeast Occupational Center to meet with staff and students during their first week of summer courses. Good luck on your coursework this term!”
